Corner view of TOV. The arm is visible on the left, with its string and pully removed. The foward wheel cavity is longer than the aft wheel cavity to allow for motion of front axel when turning. The lid is held on by eight "teeth" visible on its edges. Wheels feature a ridged design to help with traction on sandy surfaces.

Rear view of TOV with lid attached. Propellar is visible, as well as its motion slot. Slot is cut into stern of TOV to allow propeller to shift for steering. The arm's prongs are also shown here. The prongs help to retrieve objects on land, and help hold the pulley string when attached.

Detail view of mechanical components. Pulley rings and spool are visible on the left, as well as motors and axels. The motion transfer system(the x-shaped device in the middle) is used to link the propeller and front axel on their axis of motion, allowing the same control to be used for steering both on land and in the water.

Control system. The switches are oriented to correspont spacially to the motors' location on the device, to allow the user to find then quickly.


The TOV in color. Orange was chosen because it is an easily visible color. Such colors are often used in recovery and rescue equpiment because they are quickly identifiable by victims and personnel.
